Many of Bemis' most popular toilet seats feature chrome-plated hinges. The hinges need to be durable, resist corrosion and safe to use. It was important that the chrome plating we used was durable and resisted corrosion. But most important was that it was safe. Bemis worked with suppliers to use trivalent chromium, rather than the more common hexavalent chromium, which has been identified as a carcinogen.
